Use of an extracted root for ridge augmentation

By Dr. Friedrich Dr. Müller M.Sc. M.Sc.

Here is a very interesting, simple and useful idea. It shows an extracted tooth root being used to augment a resorbed residual ridge in the maxillary central incisor region. The root fragment is retained there by a bone screw. Several months later, the screw is removed and an implant is placed into the ridge in ideal position. It's great to have a new option for what is often a difficult regeneration situation.
