Case Studies

Case Presentations which quickly get to the point. They show the problem and then get right into how the case was treated. Critical principles are outlined. You can see what materials were used and how the case turned out.

Transition from a failing dental reconstruction to an implant-supported hybrid reconstruction

By Dr. Jörg-Martin Ruppin

This case shows how a failing reconstruction with extensive bone loss in the anterior region was transitioned to an implant-supported hybrid reconstruction. This required two rounds of bone augmentation. First, block grafts were applied to the deficient anterior region. Later, external sinus lifts were performed. Only then was it possible to place six implants which, when integrated, could support the final reconstruction

An autologous bone graft providing alveolar recovery prior to implant placement

By Dr. Jörg-Martin Ruppin

This case shows how an extremely infected and destroyed maxillary anterior region is able to be healed and regenerated. The alveolar reconstruction was based on using an autologous bone block taken from the mandibular ramus

Immediate replacement of a maxillary incisor with an implant

By Dr. Peter Randelzhofer

This case presents the immediate replacement of a maxillary central incisor with an implant. Particular attention is given to improving the environment for implant success and to developing the desired emergence profile for the final restoration

Molar socket regeneration + implant placement

By Dr. Anthony Reganato

This case presents the removal of a mandibular molar followed by socket regeneration using allograft mineralized cortical and cancellous bone chips and a perforated Teflon membrane. After regeneration an implant is placed

Molar socket regeneration + implant placement #2

By Dr. Anthony Reganato

This case presents a second case of removal of a mandibular molar followed by socket regeneration using allograft mineralized cortical and cancellous bone chips and a perforated Teflon membrane. After regeneration an implant is placed

Implant replacement of a maxillary central incisor

By Dr. Jan Spieckermann

In this case, the treatment of a 29-year-old man who suffered a traumatic loss of his left maxillary central incisor is shown. Due to the loss of alveolar and gingival contour, a bone block from the mandibular retro-molar region had to be transplanted to restore the defect.

Rehabilitation of an edentulous quadrant with dental implants

By Dr. Jan Spieckermann

A 51-year-old female was referred for placement of implants in an edentulous segment on the mandibular left. A simple surgical guide showed that tooth and nerve damage might develop. See how the situation was treated by changing the angle of the implants and by using bone augmentation in the region of crestal bone deficiencies

Central incisor replacement, Part 2: transitioning from the provisional to the final restoration

By Dr. Jan Spieckermann

This presentation shows how a custom provisional restoration was enhanced by adding sub-gingival contour. These contours were then reproduced in a custom impression post and transferred across to the final custom abutment and crown. All that needed to be done was to copy the form in materials that were more biologically acceptable, durable, stronger and aesthetic
