After studying dentistry in Berlin and Würzburg where he graduated in 1989, Dr Podratz worked as a scientific assistant in the Department of Prosthodontics at the University of Würzburg until 1992 when he achieved his dr. med. dent.
Moving to Italy he acted as a voluntary assistant in the Department of Prosthodontics at the University of Turin up to 1994. This was where he became involved with implantology.
Since 1992 he has worked in his own private practice office in Bra, Italy.
